Sim Greene

This is sort of a good news/bad new report to you my beloved Brothers.

At this point in time, we are welcoming twenty-four (24) new members to our Brotherhood family. They are: Ari Adu-Bekoe, Jeffrey Albaum, Steven Bacher, Howard Betel, Andrew Brooke, Zelik Bocknek, Allan Borins, Jamie Cheslo, Daniel Cohen, Matthew Dicker, Matthew Gonsalves, Christopher King, Avichay Jacobus, Steven Klupt, Sol Maker, Akiva Markus, Alain Petcho, Eric Shendelman, Ken Sigesmund, Mark Silverstein, Jason Snow, Stanley Spier, Jack Steinberg, Jason Zimmerman!

I pray that you men will enjoy being a part of a thriving Brotherhood family and meet some fine men who go on to become good friends with you! If you would like to get involved with programming for the Brotherhood and become part of the executive, the door is wide open. You can step through by replying to this email or calling me, Sim Greene, at 905-886-2447 or 416-998-1853.

Our Brotherhood family now numbers 97 men! It is the largest our Brotherhood family has ever been. This is history for Temple Har Zion. And it is shehecheyanu time.

The news from the medical ward is mixed. Bernie Fox is champing at the bit to get home. His customized bed is enroute from Quebec and when that arrives, Bernie can write finis to that chapter of his life and become used to his new normal.

Brother Ray Laxton is caring for his wife, Josephine, who is seriously ill. I have spoken to Ray and he will be appreciative of any prayer of support you can send his way. Dr, Julie McIntyre, our November speaker tells me that there is now scientific evidence that prayers from family and strangers do have a positive effect. So put Josephine on your prayer list. You might add Ray to your list as well. It is an axiom that when one member of a family gets sick, the whole family gets sick. So, any prayers that you can send towards Josephine and Ray will be surely appreciated and helpful!

Please remember you belong to a Brotherhood family. We are here to lend you support in any way that we can. We would love to support your celebrations and also help you when you are down because of a sick family member, a bereavement or anything that is heavy enough to take you down. We are here for you! Email us at this email address or simgreene@rogers.com or call me at either 905-886-2447 or 416-998-1853!

Speaking as an old guy who has more than his share of health issues which include a severe case of spinal stenosis, the trick is to try to exercise without hurting yourself and doing any harm to an already grim situation.

ENTER Moshe Schwartz, a certified personal trainer, nutritionist and the owner of Gentle Motion https://gentlemotion.ca/ who is devoting his life to helping people to boost their physical, mental and overall health through pain free ways.

I went out for a coffee with Moshe. We spent a couple of hours together and I believe he is the real deal.

This is important for a group like our Brotherhood family. Many of us have been putting off exercising because it may hurt and we are afraid that we might injure ourselves. Well, Moshe can help by introducing a gentler way to exercise than what we grew up with. The results may be: improved circulation, improved flexibility, greater strength and very importantly, a better self-image and more confidence. So come out this Tuesday at 7:30 pm when we will have the privilege of meeting Moshe in person and benefiting from his presentation Removing Barriers to Exercise! What a way to kick off 5780!

So, remember, on this Tuesday, at 7:30pm, Moshe Schwartz will present his seminar Removing Barriers to Exercise! This event is open to members of our Brotherhood family only! As always, there will be snacks and light refreshments available at no charge. This year, we are keeping it to light refreshments because our provider, Temple and Brotherhood past-president and all-round good guy, the energetic Cal Avertick was finding the heavy refreshments getting a little heavy.

Now, Cal needs to know how many to provide for. So, if you haven’t already checked in, please reply directly to this email or through Shul Cloud! That way we will know how many Brothers to provide for.

Remember, I am looking forward to seeing you all this Tuesday, at 7:30 pm! If I haven’t met you yet, I will be the very heavy guy with a walker. There are other guys with walkers, but I am the heavy one! Call me over or come over so we can shake hands!

Until then,

Yours in Brotherhood

Sim Greene
Past President
